Benefits of
BodyTite
BodyTite uses innovative technology to apply radiofrequency energy waves internally and externally. The external tissue heating causes dermal tightening and contraction, resulting in improved skin contour and tightness. The internal tissue heating results in lipolysis (busting of fat cells) and tightening of the underlying collagen network. The ruptured fat is then removed with liposuction. As a result of this combination, you are left with improved body contour with tighter skin and only a few small incisions instead of traditional longer scars. BodyTite provides effective body contouring and skin tightening for the following areas:
- Abdomen
- Waist and flanks (love handles)
- Hips
- Inner/Outer thighs and knees
- Male breasts
- Upper Arms
- Neck/Jowls (FaceTite)

Technique
During/After
Surgery
The length of surgery will vary depending on the number of areas to be treated. In some cases, your procedure may be staged to allow for optimal comfort and to minimize the risk of lidocaine toxicity (there is a safety limit based on your weight).Although you will notice some swelling and possibly some bruising, you will notice an improvement in your contour right away due to the fat reduction. It is very important to wear the compression garments for 6-8 weeks to encourage skin contraction and resolution of the swelling. Normal activity and sedentary work can be resumed within a few days. Cardio activity and heavy lifting should be limited for 3-4 weeks. It will take up to 3-6 months for all of the swelling to resolve. Additionally, with BodyTite, you will notice continued skin contraction for 6-12 months after the procedure.

FAQs
-
What is BodyTite?
BodyTite is the first FDA-approved device of its kind, using radiofrequency energy to simultaneously heat the internal and external tissues. This minimally invasive technique tightens the skin, melts the fat, and stimulates the production of new collagen for optimal skin contour after the procedure. Dr. Steele offers the BodyTite PRO which allows for faster, more consistent results with minimal downtime.
-
Will I have scars after a BodyTite procedure?
Small incisions (3-4mm) are made to allow the BodyTite handpiece and liposuction cannulas into the fatty areas to remove the fat and tighten the skin. The scars are very small and often hidden in natural creases or areas covered by undergarments and bathing suits. It is likely that nobody will notice these small scars unless they are pointed out to them.
-
Am I a good candidate for BodyTite?
If you are a healthy patient looking to remove fat and improve loose skin that can appear after weight loss, pregnancy, or aging, then BodyTite may be the right choice for you. The ideal patient will be close to their goal body weight with realistic expectations. While BodyTite combined with liposuction provides excellent body contouring, it is not a substitute or method for weight loss.
-
What areas can be treated?
BodyTite is a versatile treatment option that is quite effective at treating loose skin and excess fat in a variety of locations including the abdomen, waist, hips, upper arms, thighs, and the face/neck (FaceTite).
-
What is the recovery like; when can I return to work?
BodyTite is a well-tolerated, outpatient procedure performed in Dr. Steele’s office under local anesthesia with mild sedation. It is normal to see swelling, and possibly some bruising. You will have some tenderness and achiness due to the inflammation that responds well to non-narcotic pain medications. You will be placed into a surgical compression garment that is worn for 6-8 weeks. Most patients can return to work in 2-4 days. You should avoid cardio or strenuous exercise for about 3 weeks.
-
Is the treatment permanent? How long will the results last?
Yes, the fat cells that are removed during liposuction do not come back. If a patient gains weight, however, the remaining fat cells or fat cells in other locations will expand and become larger. Patients who maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen after surgery will maintain their results for years.
-
How much fat can be removed with liposuction and BodyTite?
This will vary depending on the size of the patient, their aesthetic goals, and the amount of fat in each location. While liposuction is not meant for weight loss or obesity, most patients will notice significant improvement in their body contour. General recommendations for safety include limiting the total fat removal to 5 liters of fluid (approximately 11 pounds). Patients who are closer to their ideal body weight will get better results with decreased complications compared to overweight and obese individuals.
-
When will I see my final results?
You will notice some improvement immediately after surgery; however, typical bruising and swelling will camouflage your final contour for several months. It is important to wear the compression garment as instructed by Dr. Steele to facilitate resolution of your swelling and skin contraction. You will gradually notice improvement as the swelling goes away, but it will take 3-6 months to see the final result. With the addition of BodyTite to the liposuction procedure, you will also notice continued skin tightening for 6-12 months after the procedure.
