This 35-year-old mother of 2 children presented to Dr. Steele requesting breast augmentation. After examining her breasts, Dr. Steele noted that she had qualities of a constricted breast: high, tight breast crease, short nipple-breast fold distance, and nipple ptosis (sagging below the breast crease). As a result of her anatomy, Dr. Steele recommended a peri-areolar mastopexy which allows for mild nipple elevation and expansion of the lower breast to correct the constriction. A Gore-Tex suture is placed around the nipple-areolar complex to minimize the risk of areolar widening that is sometimes seen with this technique. Her 4-month postoperative photographs show improved breast shape and upper breast fullness.
