Our eyes often speak for us without saying a word. Heavy eyebrows or saggy eyelids can tell others that you are tired, angry, or sad despite feeling otherwise. Many men and women suffer from brow and upper eyelid changes that can be due to aging, sun exposure, heredity, or a combination of these factors. The same is true for wrinkles, puffiness, and fat bulging of the lower eyelids. Many women and men visit Dr. Steele for cosmetic facial procedures, like eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and brow lifts, to improve the appearance of the eyes and forehead. A brow and eyelid procedure in Fort Worth can help you regain a youthful appearance.
Surgical Options
When it comes to rejuvenating your eye and brow region, Dr. Steele will take the time to develop a unique surgical plan based on your individual anatomy and goals. Some patients benefit from eyelid procedures alone, while those with heavy, sagging brow often require a brow lift as well. Whether you’re a woman or a man, the following options can help you look younger and more attractive:
An upper blepharoplasty will remove excess skin (and sometimes fat) from the upper eyelid to reverse a fatigued or grumpy appearance. In many cases, an upper blepharoplasty can be done in the office under local anesthesia alone. The incision typically follows the natural eyelid crease and extends out toward existing crow’s feet. Because the scar falls in a natural eyelid crease, it is well concealed and rarely noticeable.
Lower eyelid procedures are very effective for eliminating lower eyelid puffiness and bags. In some cases, the procedure can be performed entirely through the inside of the lower eyelid. This transconjunctival approach leaves no visible external scar. In some cases, a small pinch of skin can be removed in combination with the transconjunctival approach to address skin wrinkling. Patients with more advanced lower eyelid aging may benefit from a traditional lower eyelid incision placed just below the eyelashes. As with the upper eyelid, this incision heals quite nicely.
A brow lift or forehead lift in Fort Worth can be quite effective by lifting heavy brows and opening up the eyes. A variety of brow lift techniques are available, and Dr. Steele will help you to choose the most appropriate technique for your situation.
Many patients have multiple changes contributing to their aged appearance. It is not uncommon for patients to have saggy brows that are improved with a brow lift and wrinkled eyelid skin that is approved with a blepharoplasty.
Minimally invasive procedures like Botox®, Juvederm®, and Restylane® can improve forehead creases, “parenthesis lines” between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet. These are very effective for younger patients with less advanced signs of aging.
