Call Us Today to Get Started

In some cases, neither an augmentation or breast lift alone will achieve the desired look many women are interested in: youthful, perky, and full breasts. Oftentimes, our plastic surgery practice will see patients who are interested in a breast surgical procedure to make the breasts larger and fuller, while not realizing they need a lift for an optimal outcome. Conversely, many patients interested in a breast lift will consider implants to give them fullness in the upper breast, which is not significantly improved with a breast lift alone.

A breast lift with implants surgery in Fort Worth will restore the breasts into a more youthful position with improved fullness in the upper pole. Typically, the implants are placed under the muscle first through a planned breast lift incision followed by completion of the mastopexy (lift) which will move the breast tissue and nipple up over the center of the breast for optimal aesthetics.

Benefits of a combined breast lift with implants include the following:

  • Improved upper breast fullness
  • Improved symmetry between the breasts
  • Reducing large areolas (pigmented skin around the nipple)
  • A firm, sculpted, more youthful breast shape
  • Improved self-confidence

During and after Your Breast Lift with Implants Surgery in Fort Worth, TX

A combined breast lift and augmentation surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia. Typical surgery time ranges between 2.0-3.5 hours depending on the extent of sagging and asymmetry between breasts. Most patients can return to non-strenuous work within one week, although activity restrictions last up to 6-8 weeks after surgery.

In some cases, it may be necessary to stage the procedures for optimal patient safety. Examples include patients with very severe sagging such as someone who has had massive weight loss or someone with multiple previous breast surgeries. In these cases, it is safer to proceed with the lift first, followed by a delayed augmentation 3-6 months later.

It should also be noted that combining a breast lift with implants is a more complicated procedure compared to either procedure alone, and the revision surgery rate is higher as well. Just like in math class, when multiple variables are involved the equation becomes more difficult. The same is true with surgery; when multiple variables (nipple placement, skin looseness, implant size, scar healing, etc.) are involved, the outcome becomes more difficult to control with 100% accuracy.
