ResurFX™ Skin Resurfacing in Parker County

Cosmetic skin resurfacing can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne scars, and correct pigmentation issues, such as age spots, sunspots, and other hyperpigmentation. It can also improve your skin texture by addressing sun damage, scars, or large pores. Beyond that, this cutting-edge non-surgical treatment can provide a boost in self-confidence and self-assurance that comes with better-looking skin.

ResurFX™ Skin Resurfacing is available to our patients in Parker County, and is a fractional laser option that has a proven safety record with excellent results.

What Is ResurFX™ Skin Resurfacing?

There are several types of laser treatments and are categorized as ablative or non-ablative. Ablative lasers take off the outer layer of skin, which promotes the growth of new skin cells, but the treatment is typically more intense. Non-ablative lasers, like ResurFX™, heat the deeper layers without removing any skin and are designed to stimulate collagen production.

A fractional laser creates a microscopic zone of treated skin while leaving the surrounding area untouched, leading to faster healing and shorter recovery.

ResurFX™ is far gentler than ablative laser treatment and targets specific cells directly. It treats mild discolorations, stretch marks, mild to moderate acne or surgical scars, and loose skin.

How Does ResurFX™ Work?

Parker County patients will learn how ResurFX™ skin resurfacing uses a controlled laser that targets a specific skin depth and energy level. The tissue is treated in fractions, leaving the surrounding area intact and without damage. This selective treatment creates microscopic columns of thermal energy called microthermal zones. The laser energy is delivered beneath the skin surface and triggers your body’s natural healing response, leading to an increased production of collagen and elastin – two protein molecules responsible for your skin’s structure and elasticity.

ResurFX™ is designed to work effectively with just one pass in each session. This reduces the treatment time. It is effective for a variety of conditions, and you experience only mild discomfort during the procedure, which is far different than ablative laser treatments.

What Happens During the Treatment?

During your first consultation, our aesthetician, Jennifer Geyer, will discuss the different techniques that may be used for your cosmetic concerns, including ResurFX™ Skin Resurfacing. The suggested treatment is determined by your skin type and what you would like treated.

Your skin will be cleaned, and a topical anesthetic might be used to reduce any discomfort during the procedure. The ResurFX™ skin resurfacing process uses a handheld device that we will pass over the treatment area. You may feel a warm sensation as the energy heats some of the deeper tissue.

After 30 to 60 minutes of treatment, you must protect your skin from sun exposure since it will be more sensitive. Most people go about their daily activities immediately afterward. Since there is no break in the skin, you can likely wear makeup that day or the next day.

How Long Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Last?

You will see gradual improvements over time. The treatment triggers your body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, but not immediately. While you will see some improvement after one session, you usually need a series of treatments spaced four to six weeks apart to get the optimal results.

Your skin tone and texture will continue to improve for several months, and the results can last up to a year depending on a variety of conditions, including your skin type and post-treatment care. Ongoing maintenance is recommended to continue seeing good results.

You can help prolong the results by maintaining a quality skincare routine, including moisturizers, and anti-aging products, avoiding sun exposure, and consistently using sunscreen SPF 30 or higher. While the ResurFX™ skin resurfacing treatment helps trigger the natural production of collagen and elastin, it is not permanent.

The procedure also does not stop the natural aging process, during which your skin naturally loses collagen and elastin. Other lifestyle choices like smoking, poor diet, and lack of hydration can accelerate skin aging and shorten the results.
